Buttons
Buttons
Buttons are usually objects that are attached to items of clothing.
It was then obvious that the buttons on the uniform were used together with a buttonhole or loop to close the garment.
Later on, buttons were attached to shoes, bags and other objects, mostly just for decoration.
There are 2 main elements in the manufacturing process of metal buttons:
1. Crimped buttons
Here the button is made from the cap and the shell in such a way that they arch into each other in a single process.
Thus it is a button that consists of 2 parts.
The respective fastening is added separately.
If necessary, intermediate materials are inserted so that the button has a higher weight.
2. die casting process
Here the buttons are manufactured in a casting process.
At the same time, the corresponding fastening is attached.
Knobs are usually made of brass or nickel silver.
These are then either polished or gold-plated, in rare cases also painted in colour.
Fasteners are usually divided into short eyelets, medium eyelets, long eyelets as well as specialities such as screw threads, split pin fasteners and many more.
The classic buttons, which have holes, are usually made of stone nut, PVC or similar synthetic materials.
